Bill-of-Rights-Podcasting-Page

Page history last edited by David Cross 5 months, 2 weeks ago

Overview

Students will create a podcast that tells about one of the liberties and rights given to us through the Bill of Rights (the first 10 amendments). In order to complete this assignment, students must create a podcast that will be published, discussing what their selected amendment is, why it is important and how we experience it in our everyday life. Students should consider including examples from history, why the founders decided to include this in the Bill of Rights and perhaps talk about what life would be like without this right. Students will be podcasting using Photo Story 3 or perhaps another digital tool at home (such as Garage Band or Audacity).

Student Requirements

In order to complete this project, students will need to:

  • Research their topic
  • Write a script to be read dramatically
  • Locate appropriate images that enhance their podcast
  • Learn how to podcast

Due to the timing of this project, students will need to work independently and with little direction in the creation of the podcast.

Assessment

Student projects will be assessed on:

  • Content. Are the facts accurate and relevant? Is it good information? Is there historical accuracy?
  • Audio. Is the vocal audio clear and interesting? Is the script read dramatically?
  • Images. Do the images fit the narration? Are they clear and sharp? (Groups using Audacity will not have an image component)
  • Sound effects. Is there background music? Is there an introduction? Are other sounds used? Do the sound effects enhance or detract from the podcast?
  • Length. Is the podcast between two and five minutes in length?
