Segment Two
This segment will look closely at the current election and will be focused on answering the driving question, "Who Should Mr. Cross Vote For?"
Students will work in groups to look closely at a number of issues in regard to the 2008 Presidential Election.
Student teams will choose one area of focus and will present both the Democratic and Republican plans, discuss pros and cons of each plan and then make a recommendation on which plan is best including reasons why. Presentations will be given in class and the entire class will assess the information.
One team will create PowerPoint presentation for their area of focus. The slideshows for the areas of the Economy, Education, Energy, Healthcare, and the War, will include the following:
- A description of the plans presented by each candidate in their topic area, including pro's and con's.
- A recommendation of which plan is better and the reasons for that recommendation.
One team will create a presentation on the character of the candidates. This presentation must include:
- A brief description of at least three of the character traits of the candidates.
- A discussion of how those traits have been seen in past Presidents and the results of those character traits on the nation. Information for this portion should come from the Presidents Project Segment One.

- At least one image of the candidate.
- A brief biography of the candidate.
- A short discussion of the candidates voting record on bills related to the major issues of the Economy, Education, Energy, Healthcare and the War.
After all the presentations are complete, the class will vote on who the best candidate is for the position of President of the United States.
Each presentation must incorporate the following:
- Consistent fonts and color schemes throughout.
- One use of clip art, word art, an image, graph, chart or video on each slide. Each instance must add to the presentation and not detract from the information delivered.
- Each slide must have a transition.

- The use of sounds and effects "just because" needs to be avoided.
Assessment: Presentations will be graded using the Segment Two Rubric.
