Rhode is a state where there are hot rainy summers and cold snowy winters. Rhode Island is bordered by Connecticut Massachusetts and the Atlantic Ocean this made Rhode Island a good agricultural place. Rhode Island had Coastal lowlands and rocky woodlands. Rhode Island covers 1,545 square miles of land. The mean elevation of Rhode Island is 200 feet. Rhode Island was nicknamed the ocean state. Rhode Island's highest point is Jerimoth Hill, which is only 812 feet above sea level. Rhode Island has two main regions. One region is the eastern region which contains the lowlands of the Narragansett Bay. Western Rhode Island connects up with New England. The geography affected the people that lived in Rhode Island. It affected farmers the most because Rhode Island was great for agriculture. But for people that lived there it got very hot and cold it was also humid so people did not like this. The Geography helped the colony develop a lot, because the lowlands increased the agriculture. Rhode Island was mostly flat. This allowed farmers to grow various crops which helped with marketing and trade.
